The GAL (Local Action Group) Area Grecanica is an consortium established in 1997. The GAL Area Grecanica works within its own territory to build opportunities for sharing a common vision of development for institutions, citizens and businesses, and jointly seek possible ways for the rebirth of the Greek culture. The agency has been committed, since its establishment, to the promotion of naturalistic and cultural tourism in the area. The activity of the GAL Area Grecanica include numerous promotional campaigns to increase tourist flows in the area. One of its most prominenti initiatives is in the Greek Calabria is the Paleariza Ethnomusical Festival (Antica Radice). The Festival constitutes a moment of encounter between the local cultural context and the musical cultures of other areas of the Mediterranean.
